A simple manoeuvre to minimise bladder injury during laparoscopic incisional hernia repair

چکیده
BACKGROUND Bladder injury during laparoscopic incisional hernia repair has a reported incidence of 0.5%.1 Mesh placement during repair may be difficult when the fascial defect extends towards the pubis. The bladder may need to be separated from the peritoneum in order to place the mesh safely and achieve adequate mesh overlap.2 We propose a simple intra-operative technique to help identify bladder position and better define the plane for dissection.

متن کاملA Calcified Foreign Body in the Bladder due to a Displaced Tack: An Unusual Complication After Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair
We report a rare complication caused by a displaced tack after laparoscopic incisional hernia repair. A 41-year-old woman treated 11 months earlier for a suprapubic incisional hernia (Pfannenstiel laparotomy) received a laparoscopic repair with a bilaminar mesh fixed with tacks. Seven months later, she presented miccional irritative symptoms and chronic lower abdominal pain. Leucocyturia and mi...
متن کاملPost Incisional Hernia Meshplasty Vesicocutaneous Fistula – A Rare Complication
Laparoscopic meshplasty is gold standard in hernia surgery. Mesh migration into bowel/bladder has been documented after laparoscopic repair, though migration into bowel is more common than bladder. Only 12 cases of migration into bladder have been described post inguinal meshplasty. We report the 1st case of mesh migration into bladder post Incisional hernia meshplasty, presenting as vesicocuta...
متن کاملA study of intraabdominal pressure modification in "component separation" technique for repair of incisional hernia.
INTRODUCTION Incisional hernias can be treated with laparoscopic and laparotomic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery can be made without the use of mesh when performing component separation technique. This technique allows to limit the adverse effects to foreign body and promotes a tension-free closure. We studied intravescical pressure changes during intervention in order to quantify intrabdominal p...
متن کاملThe INCH-Trial: a multicentre randomized controlled trial comparing the efficacy of conventional open surgery and laparoscopic surgery for incisional hernia repair
BACKGROUND Annually approximately 100.000 patients undergo a laparotomy in the Netherlands. About 15,000 of these patients will develop an incisional hernia. Both open and laparoscopic surgical repair have been proven to be safe. However, the most effective treatment of incisional hernias remains unclear. This study, the 'INCH-trial', comparing cost-effectiveness of open and laparoscopic incisi...
